Planning for the Pittsburgh Main Line started on scraps of paper over the years.
As the ideas poured in, it evolved into a CAD file.
Today, the Johnstown area is near the last changes before actual construction begins
at that end.
The layout is a double track Conrail continuous mainline with interchanges to the AVR,
Union and CSX.
It has a helix under Johnstown that goes down to staging yards.
The helix was added to get the necessary clearance between levels.
